The Nod has been on my radar for awhile now since last summer when I filmed them at the Mifflin St. Block Party (video below). At that time they came across as a competent and catchy act that was good for some summer rock fare. I no longer feel this way. Now, I think they have that undefinable "it" factor that can launch a group on talent alone.

Icarus Himself is an indie rock trio from Madison, WI, and one of the more interesting bands I've heard in awhile. Their sound is edgy and the arrangements are tastefully done with just enough layering at times to keep things interesting without turning to mud.
