Carnage the Executioner

Interview: Carnage The Executioner

A mouth opens, the blade swings, and a emcee’s head rolls. Or as Minnesota rapper Terrell Woods AKA Carnage The Executioner explains on “Attack of the Show Stealer”, the artist has never been someone you want to follow after a live performance.

That’s because the rapper lives up to his name–a one man assault on [...]

Awesome Interview with Sage Francis

Everyone from the Madison area has heard by now that an otherwise peaceful Hip Hop event was ruined by some idiot with a gun at the High Noon Saloon a few weeks ago.

Despite the incident, the High Noon is keeping a cool head, recognizing that the problem is not necessarily Hip Hop in general.

[...]

New Videos: Astronautalis – Live at The High Noon Saloon

One of the most impressive artists on my radar over the last year is Astronautalis, a wordsmith of the highest caliber that I first caught wind of at SXSW 2011 in Austin. His unique blend of well crafted lyrics and melodies, Tom Waits-like grit, real Hip Hop sensibility and a damn good backing band put [...]

This is part 3 of 4 in the series iStandard Showcase 2011

Internet has been out for a couple days here, and if I wasn’t on the Mid-Coast in a tiny town that wouldn’t be an excuse for late blog posts. I’m always fighting with my boss about staying on track and meeting deadlines.

Of course, [...]

SIMS Live at the High Noon Saloon – Bad Time Zoo Tour

Shortly after returning from SXSW this year, (where I saw too many bands to count, including Doomtree and Astronautalis) I was thrilled and amazed to see Sims from Doomtree coming through Madison, WI.

Amazed because of the crazy touring schedule this guy and his label-mates keep, and thrilled because he’s super dope :)

It [...]

The Few – “The Dark Lord” – Live At The High Noon

The Few are pretty new to me, but they kicked ass at the High Noon a couple of weeks ago. This show was the night of the huge snow storm here in Wisconsin (something like 20 inches of snowfall), and they still drew a decent crowd, which says something about both the band and [...]

Flyer for the Madtown Emcee Battle

Madtown Emcee Battle @ The High Noon Saloon!

There’s something about a rap battle that makes me want to learn how to freestyle.

I can almost see the rolodex of jabs and insults in these guys minds being cross referenced with which words rhyme in real time.

To actually put that shit together and have it flow out of their [...]

Doomtree Live @ The High Noon Saloon! Win a Signed Doomtree Photo Book!

I admit it, I’ve been guilty of fanboy behavior on a few occasions, and this is one of them. Once again I am singing praises to the Hottest Hip-Hop crew in the Midwest, Doomtree. They completely rocked the High Noon Saloon for the last performance of their Wings + Teeth tour, before heading home to Minneapolis for the Doomtree Blowout 6.

If every show I went to had this kind of positive energy, I’d probably die of over-exposure to awesome.
